Chief Financial Officer

Megaphone is looking for an experienced Chief Financial Officer to join the leadership team at our fast-paced podcast technology, advertising sales and creative services company. The CFO role is an excellent opportunity for someone who desires to take a significant role at an industry leader in the rapidly growing field of podcast technology and monetization. If you’re well-versed in all aspects of financial management and have a passion for data and analytics, this is the job for you. This job is based in Washington, DC., will report to the CEO, and oversee the Finance and Accounting team as well as the Data and Analytics team.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic leadership across the company:

  • Work directly with other leaders of the company to set the overall corporate direction and develop the strategic plan to get there
  • Lead the continued development of Megaphone’s corporate financial plan for guiding strategic investments and overall decision making
  • Participate and lead presentations across the company and to corporate parent - Graham Holdings Company
  • Participate in the development process of new products and services including ROI evaluation, pricing, marketing spend, financial processes, etc.

Team Development:

  • Lead a team of finance and accounting professionals as well as our data and analytics team responsible for maintaining the financial operations, measurement and reporting and overall management of the business
  • Invest in the next generation of leaders at Megaphone by ensuring each member of the team is learning and growing
  • Manage on going team responsibilities to ensure optimum results and focus across the team

Oversee Corporate Finance and Accounting operations:

  • Review and affirm monthly financial results
  • Present reliable current and forecasting reports
  • Adhere to quarterly SOX reporting requirements
  • Provide oversight of the company’s finance IT system
  • Ensure compliance with legal and company policies

Oversee the Data and Analytics operations:

  • Work directly with the data and analytics function to maintain in-depth reporting packages and to report on the strength and makeup of the overall business
  • Engage with the product and tech teams to develop a road map for reporting and data driven insights to support the evolution of the business

In-Depth Management of Corporate Finance and Accounting Practices:

  • Control and evaluate the organization’s capital structure
  • Ensure cash flow is appropriate for the organization’s operations
  • Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments

Requirements and attributes of the ideal candidate

  • Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance or related field; MBA is a plus
  • Public accounting experience is a strong advantage
  • Proven experience as CFO or financial leader of an organization
  • In depth knowledge of US GAAP and risk management practices
  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods
  • Ability to strategize and solve problems
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills
  • Interest to develop high potential team members
  • Excellent communication and people skills
